The latest Summer Fridays product is an absolute game-changer. I’ve been looking for the best (chemical) exfoliating solution for my skin since my Glossier Solution ran out, and haven’t been able to find a product that didn’t irritate my skin… until now. I purchased the Soft Reset AHA Exfoliating Solution from the Summer Fridays website when it was released, and my purchase came with reusable cotton rounds and a pouch.
The Product
Overnight, its exfoliating power helps smooth and refine skin’s texture, while moisture-magnet humectants help plump fine lines and natural botanical extracts comfort and soothe. The perfect skin reset, it clears the way for optimal moisturizer benefits—and for you to wake up to a softer, smoother, fresh-faced glow. (Summer Fridays website)
The product is marketed to exfoliate, brighten the skin, and reduce the appearance of pores. The bottle is 3.4 fl oz and retails for $54. The three powerhouse ingredients (lactic acid, niacinamide, and glycolic acid) are pretty high up on the ingredients list, so that’s a good sign. You can read the full ingredient list here.
My Experience
I followed the recommended nighttime routine on the Summer Fridays website and cleansed my face with the Super Amino Gel Cleanser. I followed the exfoliating solution with Jet Lag Mask, which is still my favorite Summer Fridays product to date. On a side note, I think I’m going to order the jumbo size when the Sephora VIB sale starts… hopefully it doesn’t sell out. The suggested routine was both gentle and aesthetically pleasing. I’ve worked my way up to using Soft Reset 2-3 nights a week, and I’ve found that it’s the only product that helps with my maskne. I’ve been getting breakouts from wearing a mask (and sweating underneath it, because what’s Fall in Florida?), and washing it frequently with detergent for sensitive skin, unfortunately, didn’t do much to help. While my skin congestion hasn’t completely cleared, I have noticed a huge improvement while using Soft Reset. I don’t have many fine lines to begin with (and aren’t overly concerned with them, to be honest), but I do see a noticeable difference in my skin’s texture.
The Summer Fridays website recommends to ease into the solution if you have sensitive skin and to perform a test patch prior to using the product on your face. While Soft Reset worked for me with no issues, everyone’s skin is different, so I recommend following those directions. On the other hand, if you’re having some tough concerns with your skin, a brand like Soteri Skin may be your newfound ally.
Final verdict
I love Soft Reset, but it costs almost twice as much as Glossier Solution. I’ll probably go back to Glossier Solution in the future, but I 100% recommend this product to those who don’t mind the cost or prefer the ingredients.
