This year, my motto is: Life is short, wear the dress. I decided to treat myself for my birthday this year with all of the dresses I’ve dreamed of wearing, the first one being the Lirika Matoshi Strawberry Midi Dress. The Strawberry Midi Dress was probably the most popular dress of 2020; it was seen everywhere and became so popular that dupes hit fast-fashion retailers almost instantly. I have been following Lirika Matoshi’s designs since Galentine’s Day in 2018, but at the time I could only afford a pair of socks. It’s been incredible watching her brand grow!
The Dress
The Strawberry Midi Dress comes in pink and black, but I ordered the pink as it’s my favorite color. The skirt portion of the dress has many layers, and the dress is made of tulle, pvc glitter, and environmental protection glue. There are ties at the front of the dress and a zip in the back. According to Lirika Matoshi’s website, the dress measures 33 inches long from the waist down. The sizing goes from a XS (US 0-2) to XXXL (US 16-18), but it looks like XXL is the largest size currently available.
The Fit
At the time I ordered the dress, I was in between a US 14 and US 16, so I ordered the XXL. I felt like I could have sized down to an XL, and in hindsight, I should’ve just ordered the XL as I am currently a true size 14. Hopefully, I can just tie the front a little tighter the next time I wear the dress. Either way, the dress fit like a dream! Although there is a lot of fabric involved, I didn’t feel too hot in the dress. It was pretty easy to move around as well. I do recommend steaming all of the layers of the dress prior to wearing it so it looks as incredible as it does online. The only complaint I have is the shedding of the glitter, but there are hacks to keep the glitter on the dress and off of everything else I plan on doing before wearing the dress again. I ended up sitting on a garment bag in my car, lol!
Final Thoughts
I am so glad the Strawberry Midi Dress is just as majestic in person as it looks online. The price is quite steep, but it’s not your average dress; there’s something about the dress that makes me feel like a real-life princess as soon as I have it zipped up. I dream of wearing this somewhere in Europe one summer, to celebrate a future anniversary and other special moments in life! I have been in love with this dress for years! I’ve finally got my first “grown up” job and am just itching to get my hands on it! I wish there were reviews on the website. It’s a steep price but looks like it’ll be worth it!
