Glossier Haul, Swatches, and Honest Review

09/09/2018

Over the past six or so months, I have accumulated quite the Glossier collection. I now own multiple Cloud Paint colors, Lash Slick, Lidstar, Boy Brow, the Wowder duo, Perfecting Skin Tint, Generation G, Glossier You Perfume Solid, Milky Jelly Cleanser, and Solution. This post will tell you everything you need to know about the products I’ve purchased since my initial Glossier review.

Glossier

Glossier Solution

I posted about the Solution when I first purchased it. At the time, I was skeptical that the product wasn’t doing much for my skin. Fast forward a few months and it has become a staple nighttime product. I have fully incorporated Solution into my nighttime routine, and I somehow still have product left. I still don’t know how it works for someone with cystic acne, but it has kept my skin smooth and bright. I’m still impressed with its ability not to break my skin out, since I usually have to dilute acids I put on my face. It’s the perfect solution (pun intended) for someone with mild to sensitive skin and mostly hormonal breakouts.

Glossier Solution is currently sold out, but it should be restocked within the next month according to the brand.

Lidstar Duo

Glossier recently rolled out their liquid cream eye shadow, Lidstar. I purchased the $30 duo in Lily and Slip, and I’ve been eyeing the shades Herb and Fawn. I normally like doing full powder eyeshadow looks, and I love a good palette, but Lidstar has been coming in handy on the days I have class and/or work, especially when I wear my glasses. I usually wear eyeshadow primer on my lids and apply a layer of Lidstar, let it dry, then another layer. I try to let the top layer dry before blinking, and I haven’t noticed any fallout yet.

The shades I chose are pretty sheer, but with enough layering, you can get them to pop.

Glossier You Perfume Solid

Glossier debuted their signature fragrance this year. I received a small sample of it with my Glossier Solution order, and I wasn’t impressed the first few times I wore it. The scent eventually grew on me, and I really loved that I could still faintly smell it at the end of the day. The solid really comes in handy when traveling; I keep it in my gym bag for everyday use.

The solid retails for $22 which is not bad at all in pricing. Not to mention, it’s kind-of soothing to open and close the packaging!

Lash Slick

Glossier also debuted their first mascara this year, Lash Slick. It retails for $16 and promises to last all day without smudging or flaking. To be honest, I bought the mascara purely off the social media hype. My favorite mascara is currently TooFaced’s Better Than Sex mascara, but Lash Slick is a close second. It’s perfect for my ten-minute makeup look days, when I want my lashes to look lengthened without dealing with clumpiness.

My only wish for Lash Slick is that it eventually comes in a thickening version, as it does nothing to really thicken the lashes– just lengthen them.

Perfecting Skin Tint

The Glossier product I was most excited to try this year was the Perfecting Skin Tint. I was really looking forward to applying a glowy veil over my face without having to bust out my beauty blender. Unfortunately, the Perfecting Skin Tint fell short for me. According to the Glossier website, it is a skin tint with light coverage. And by light, they mean almost none.

I bought the skin tint at the Glossier Showroom in NYC and matched myself as the ‘dark’ shade. Three days later, I received an e-mail saying that the product was being re-formulated and I was sent an e-gift card for a new one. My hopes were high about the new formula, but the skin tint was still as sheer as ever. And using it in the summertime made me a shiny mess. It’s actually the only Glossier product I’ve tried that I would not recommend. A BB or CC cream with more coverage would be a great addition to the Glossier family!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I struggle with restraining myself from buying everything from Glossier because their packaging is so. good. They recently realeased their Zit Stick, which looks like a Tide To-Go pen, but has a more sanitary applicator. I (luckily) don’t even need a spot treatment right now, but if I did, I would definitely take the Zit Stick for a spin.
