This year I’ve decided to start a new beauty series on my blog called What’s In My Makeup Bag. Roughly every month, I’ll be posting the latest additions to my makeup bag and my bathroom counter! Between December and January, I decided to try some new products out.
Products:
-
- Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy
-
- Bumble & Bumble Bb. Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo with French Pink Clay
-
- FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick
- EOS Crystal Lip Balm in Pink Hibiscus
Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy
This gem retails for $12 and has saved my life. There are also packs of two, available on the Kopari website directly, that I will definitely invest in next time around. My lips have been unbelievably dry this year, and the only thing that has helped is the Kopari Coconut Lip. I usually put a small amount on my lips in my morning and let it fade away. On really bad lip days, I apply it at night so that my lips are hydrated by the time I wake up in the morning.
I used to use the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm at night, but even that won’t work for me now. I use a lip scrub 2-3 times a week in conjunction with the Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy and have felt so much better. I’ll definitely be repurchasing!
Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo
I read a bunch of reviews on Sephora before making this purchase, mostly to compare it to Living Proof’s dry shampoo. The main ‘pro’ of this product was that it was really good for brunettes/darker hair because there was no residue left that made your hair look grey and ashy. I can definitely attest to that, but seeing as how this product is $29, there was nothing special about it. I use dry shampoo pretty often, so a $29 bottle of dry shampoo that is just okay isn’t something I can keep up with in my everyday beauty routine. I’ll be trying some more drugstore options when I run out of this one!
Fenty Beauty Matchstix Shimmer Skinstick in Yacht Lyfe
The Fenty Beauty highlighters are absolutely gorgeous, all of them. My first highlighter purchase was the Killawat highlighter in Trophy Wife, and to this day, I love the in-your-face glow it gives me. I wanted to try one of the Matchstix Shimmer Skinsticks next, and I figured Yacht Lyfe was the safest color to try. It gives my skin such a great natural rosy flush! It looks natural for the most part, but when the sun catches my cheeks just right, it’s a wrap!
This product retails for $25 at Sephora and I think it’s worth it. I can use it on minimal makeup days applied and blended with my finger, or I can layer it over a similar toned highlighter when I have on a full face of makeup. At first, I was so skeptical of using a cream based highlighter, but I have no complaints. I’m already looking at the next shades I’ll be trying from the Matchstix Shimmer Skinstick line 😉
EOS Crystal Lip Balm in Pink Hibiscus
Okay so, I haven’t worn EOS lip balms in five-ever because my lips have had the worst reaction to it. They would always peel after applying any EOS balm, no matter the flavor. No amount of lip scrubs and moisturizing helped the situation, so I had to stop using EOS lip products altogether. But when they came out with the crystal lip balm packaging, I HAD to try it! I thought they might have updated their formula; if they did, I couldn’t tell. I had the same exact reaction to the crystal balm that I did to all the other ones. The balm will be sitting pretty on my dresser until I decide I can no longer look at it.
Glossier Solution Face Exfoliator and Skin Perfector, Jade Roller
Last but not least, at the end of January, I ordered the new Glossier Solution and a jade roller from Amazon. I specifically bought these two products with hopes of obtaining a brighter, more even, and clearer complexion. Luckily, I suffer from small, hormonal breakouts, so clearing acne isn’t really a concern for me. I don’t want to give a full review of Glossier’s Solution until I’ve been using it for a month, but I can already tell a difference in the evenness of my complexion in the near-two weeks I’ve been using the product! The jade roller is also quickly becoming a favorite, but that will be a separate post in the future as well 🙂
Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
