I am typically a person that loves structure, but the pandemic has reinforced my need for routines. Without a solid morning and nighttime routine, my days started running into each other with no sense of purpose and it was easier to let my anxiety take control. Today I’ll be sharing a breakdown of my morning routine and introducing some new products from BURST Oral Care I’ve recently incorporated into my routine.
Developing a Routine
I discovered a tool called Notion via TikTok (surprise, surprise) that allows me to digitally plan and check off tasks as I go. I also use it to keep my school due dates in one place, track my reading, etc. The possibilities are endless! I used a template from Rijha K (@rijha.studies on Instagram) who I also discovered on TikTok to begin with, and thankfully it already came with a ‘morning routine’ page. Being able to check off my morning tasks, no matter how small, helped me waste less time on my phone and motivated me to get started with my list of things to do each day.
Amidst the self-care practices, individuals are recognizing the importance of regular dental check-ups. Even on Sundays, a day often associated with relaxation and rejuvenation, prioritizing oral health remains paramount. Seeking out a reliable sunday dentist for routine check-ups reflects a commitment to holistic well-being, where oral care becomes an integral part of the overall self-care routine. As we navigate uncertainties, a structured approach to oral health not only enhances our smiles but also cultivates a sense of control and well-being in our daily lives.
I start my mornings off with reflection… which you would not catch 2019 me doing. I don’t know why I was so against reflection, but now I look forward to writing in my Five Minute Journal each morning. It sets my intentions and the mood for the day so I usually listen to my morning playlist on Spotify and make hot water with lemon shortly after. If I have enough time, I’ll reflect on my vision board and spend five minutes searching on Pinterest for new inspiration, then listen to a podcast. If I am running low on time, I save the podcast for later on in the day while I’m doing some things around the house. I have also started ~5 minute meditations on the Headspace app which have made my mornings less chaotic.
The second portion of my morning routine involves activity. Once I’m out of bed, I brush my teeth and change into my workout clothes. BURST Oral Care was kind enough to send over their products to try, and they’ve made my morning and nighttime routines a little more exciting!
I’ve been using the BURST Expanding Floss followed by the BURST Toothpaste + BURST Sonic Toothbrush (Rose Gold Edition) in the mornings. I love that the floss is black because I can see the plaque as I remove it, and it adsorbs coffee and wine from your teeth thanks to the charcoal – perfect for me because my dentist is always (gently) scolding me for the staining I’ve brought on by my daily tea/coffee intake. What might be the best part about the floss is the case it comes in; it’s refillable, so less waste. The toothpaste in wild mint has a pleasant taste, no sensitivity, and fluoride for protection. It also has whitening properties, so I can’t wait to see what my teeth will look like after using BURST products (including the Water Flosser and BURST Whitening Strips, not pictured) the next time I see my dentist. The toothbrush is currently my favorite electric toothbrush; it has different settings and I find it very gentle but effective… the 2-minute timer split into 30-second quadrants is also quite helpful. After having a rough year with my teeth in 2020, this toothbrush is just what I needed. The fact that it’s aesthetically pleasing doesn’t hurt either 😉
Once I’m in my workout clothes, I pick up on whatever day I’m on in the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide 1.0 program. I completed the program back in 2017 and saw great results (including feeling a lot better inside out), so I made a commitment to try the program again this year. I typically spend ~35 minutes exercising in the morning which gives me energy pre-coffee, and I feel like accomplishing physical activity early in the day gives me the rest of the day to tackle whatever I need to do without feeling anxious about exercising in the evening once I’m exhausted.
My morning routine has made all the difference so far this year, and is in alignment with the intentions I set in January. What does your morning routine look like?
