Hi lovelies! Happy March!
There were two mini-beauty hauls I did towards the middle of February that I didn’t get a chance to post, so I wanted to share my opinion with you all now. Of course it includes Colourpop Cosmetics, as well as some products I’ve been meaning to try for a while.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray: This is a lifesaver! My skin gets very dry in the winter and oily in the summer. Using this before bed helped my skin heaps since I don’t really use a facial oil (does anyone have good recommendations for combo skin?), and I like spraying it on before school after sleepless nights – it helps me look more refreshed. I bought this primarily for traveling though (refreshing after long flights), so I have high hopes for this on my spring break trip!
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer: I’m torn between this and the Maybelline Baby Skin primer (which is apparently a dupe for the Benefit Porefessional primer), but I decided to buy the travel version to see what the hype was about. I can’t say that this primer performed any miracles, but it managed to keep my makeup looking nice and silky throughout the day, and I only needed one pump. I might just go back to Baby Skin since it’s way cheaper though.
MAC Toledo Collection Lipstick in Oxblood: This is the lipstick I wore in the Soft Glam Valentine’s Day look and it’s the key step in my new favorite lip combo. I am so picky with nudes, because I feel like my skin tone can be easily washed out, but this compliments all skin tones perfectly!
Colourpop Cosmetics is definitely my jam. It seems like ever since I discovered them, I’ve placed a medium sized order once a month. I joked around saying that I wouldn’t stop until I owned one of everything, but I’m beginning to think that wasn’t a joke at all. Anyhow, here’s what I ordered:
Eye shadows: (L to R) So Quiche*, To-A-T, Etiquette
Lippiestix (thicker barrel): (L to R) Lady, Lippie Primer
Lippie pencils: (L to R) Bossy, Brink, Lumiere, Wet, LBB
*I was so excited to get my eyeshadows that I dropped So Quiche on the floor prior to taking the picture, but don’t worry, it works just fine. Oops.
As usual, everything is great. Etiquette is so beautiful! It’s the perfect shade of royal blue and the pigmentation is just stunning. The lippiestix didn’t disappoint, and I’m so glad that Lady and the primer are both sold individually now! I’ve been working on taking better care of my lips now that I am wearing matte lipsticks most often, so the primer definitely helps. The lippie pencils are great as well (especially since I can get three for the price of one MAC lip pencil), but I don’t like how flimsy the caps are. Most of the time they fall right off if you’re not careful with how you pick up the pencil. Don’t let that stop you from buying the lippie pencils though, they glide on so smoothly!
I ordered two of their new blushes as well as a pink lippie pencil a few days ago, so I’ll be doing a post on the blushes sometime in the near future! I’m probably not going to do swatches of Colourpop products anymore, since their website provides swatches on three different skin tones for each product, which is another reason why I love them.
I decided to give micellar water a go since seeing it in a lot of articles on skincare routines. I’ve been trying to regulate my skincare routine because I’ve mainly been taking advantage of the fact that I have naturally good skin and have been treating my face however I want. One day, it hit me that I need to start taking care of it now so I don’t have to worry about it later! Micellar water, to my understanding, is a gentle cleansing water that has all of the properties of a toner and it removes makeup. I found this at Target thanks to the Cartwheel app, and was able to get it for $4-$5. I like it a lot more than my current toner from Clean & Clear because I don’t have that burning or tingling sensation on my face and it’s actually supposed to remove makeup.
All in all, I’m not going to lie, I spent so much more on makeup than I meant to. I only justified my Colourpop haul because it was a lot cheaper to get all of those items vs one or two items from MAC. (Don’t get me wrong, I still love MAC, but when I shop, I like to weigh the pros and cons of shopping for different products at different stores!) I think I need to declutter my makeup stash sometime this month before a bunch of beautiful summer collections come out and I go into a shopping frenzy.
What beauty products did you all buy and love (or not love) last month? What items are you planning on buying this month? Let’s chat in the comments!
