When my feet stopped growing in middle school, I ended up wearing a size 11 US/42 EU shoe. It was an awful time trying to fit in with my friends and developing my own style but having such a limited selection of shoes to choose from. I would get extremely frustrated not being able to wear cute flats and sandals that I saw in magazines or at the mall. Fast forward twelve years, to me discovering the brand Shoes of Prey on Instagram. (Disclaimer: Although shoes were sent for review, all opinions are 100% my own.)
Shoes of Prey is an awesome brand that allows each customer to design and personalize their own shoes. They have a bunch of ready-made shoes to choose from, but they are all customizable. The best part is their size range; the US-based retailer offers sizes 2 to 15 with different widths (narrow, wide, and extra wide) depending on the style. The days of me being near tears in the shoe department at Macy’s are long gone!
The Cooper 55 Shoe
I chose to customize the Cooper 55 shoe with Gingerbread Tan Soft Suede and Wood Wrapping. I wanted a neutral shoe with a neutral heel without it being too boring. The silhouette was perfect for me because I find pointy-toed shoes too uncomfortable to wear daily, to be honest. I have worn my custom Cooper 55 shoes almost everywhere since receiving them; they came with toe pads to make the shoe wearable all day, and I get compliments on them at least once a day!
Personalized Inscription
If being able to design your own shoe isn’t cool enough by itself, how about personalizing it with an inscription?! I got my Instagram handle put on the insole of my shoe, and it makes the customization even more magical than I ever imagined. I have been disappointed while shoe shopping time and time again, but Shoes of Prey makes up for all of my past frustration tenfold.
You can get your own inscription for free (normally $49) with the code NUBIANALILOUTEEΒ at checkout!
Final Thoughts on Shoes of Prey
Aside from my own personal connection to Shoes of Prey and history of failed shoe shopping, I’d rate Shoes of Prey 5/5. The customized/personalized shoes are the cheapest I’ve seen of their kind, without sacrificing quality. Shipping is free to the US (and many other countries), and there is a 365-day return policy which includes remaking your custom shoes within a 90-day window if you’re not satisfied. In addition to offering ready-made shoes, there are “Insta Favorites” on the Shoes of Prey website if you need some help gathering inspiration for your design.
I will definitely be ordering from Shoes of Prey again in the future- I feel like I have an endless amount of shoe designs stored in my head just from designing this first shoe!
