Once upon a time, I used to wear bike shorts and frat tanks to class. Little did I know, bike shorts would become a huge trend. I’ve seen so many bike shorts & blazer combinations at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), so I decided to give the trend my own little spin.
The majority of my outfit is from Target, from the blazer to the boots and the belt. The shorts are from Boohoo, but I’m actually on the search for bike shorts that aren’t sheer. The blazer is the perfect length to cover the sheerness of the shorts, but there are so many other ways to style them; with a tied up oversized shirt, with a crop top, and with a crop top and denim jacket are just a few other ways to style it.
The most common variation I’ve seen on the trend is the plaid blazer with bike shorts and ‘dad’ sneakers. I love how that looks, but the plaid blazer I have is not warm weather appropriate, so I decided to switch it up a little bit. I opted for a monochrome base; a black bodysuit, the black bike shorts, and black sock booties (one of the best Target finds EVER). I added the little black belt so it didn’t look like I was wearing a straight up unitard. Then, I added a pop of color with the pink blazer, and put on white shades for contrast.
This is another summer-to-fall transition outfit that I think anyone can pull off! It’s a trend that you can make your own. If you’re a more laid back person, you can rock an oversized sweatshirt with bike shorts and ‘dad’ sneakers. If you’re going for the gym at 9 and meeting at 10 look, you can wear the shorts with a plain tee, plaid blazer, and ‘dad’ sneakers. And if you’re being extra like me, you can dress the look up with heeled booties and accessories!
Will you be rocking the bike shorts anytime soon?
