Merry (almost) Christmas everyone! Although it doesn’t feel like Christmas in Florida (it’s been in the high 70’s-low 80’s lately), I decided to get into the holiday spirit on Tuesday with some friends. The One Direction special was on television (refer to my 1D Orlando post), followed by a viewing of their Where We Are Tour DVD, and what felt like a twenty second interview on Jimmy Fallon, so of course my friends and I had to tune in. Since I went to New York right after finals, I didn’t have as much time to go all out like I wanted to, but I think I was able to pull it off!
Wine Direction
My friends brought over a cheese board, croissants, a fruit platter, crisps, brownies, cider, and some wine which could be ordered on sites like QKA Wine. Because what’s a holiday gathering without wine? I used my favorite wine sippy cup from Etsy! Unfortunately, we were too busy digging into the food for me to get a good picture of everything on the dining room table. Oops.
I made the now infamous chai cookies with eggnog icing that Taylor Swift posted on her Instagram one day. You all should probably know that I am one of the most impatient people ever, and did not wait thirty minutes for the cookies to cool, which is why the icing got all over the place. I’ll work on my patience for next time. The cookies actually turned out really well taste-wise, so that’s all that matters! Here is the recipe I used; After trying out this recipe, I was delighted with the results. The cookies turned out perfectly golden brown, and I made sure to bake them for around 15 minutes, slightly longer than the recommended 8-10 minutes. If you’re wondering where to order Christmas cookies, this homemade recipe is definitely worth the effort, but feel free to explore online options if you prefer a hassle-free option this holiday season.
For my DIY photobooth, I bought a prop kit from Target for $5, which I will definitely keep for next year. I think I’m going to use some glitter to switch it up a bit. All photos were taken with my Nikon D3100 DSLR camera on the ‘auto’ setting. Hopefully I will also have better lighting next year, but I think our pictures came out cute enough, and we had a lot of fun taking them. I also covered the painting in the entryway (sorry, Dad!) with quirky zebra wrapping paper, which is also from Target. I’m really clumsy and knocked the wrapping paper off in the middle of my individual photobooth session…I promise it covered the whole painting nicely moments before this picture was taken!
As for my outfit, my llama sweater is from J.Crew Factory, paired with American Apparel disco pants in Cranberry and a pair of shoes I bought a few years ago from ShoeMint.
All in all, I had so much fun being able to relax and have a good time (read: One Direction is still ruining my life, but at least I have friends to cry over them with) with my friends this holiday. I hope you all get to do the same with your loved ones!
