Bespoke Hair Care: Prose Hair Review

22/10/2018

I’ve only written about my hair a handful of times, but I’ve never really done an in-depth review of hair products. I’ve been trying to find a solid hair care routine for years, which is why I finally teamed up with Prose Hair to try their custom products. I have naturally curly 3A/3B hair (depending on the day and humidity in Florida) that usually turns into waves in between washes. My hair is super thick and pretty long, which is the part that makes it so hard to manage. Enter Prose Hair. Check out this lace wigs for sale from Fille’s Hair for information on artificial hair

Disclaimer: Although the products were sent to me for review, all opinions and experiences described are 100% my own.

Prose Hair Review

Step One: The Consultation

Prose’s custom hairpieces for women result from a consultation which gathers your hair type, goals, and lifestyle evaluation. You first take an online assessment to determine which ingredients will be most beneficial for your hair. This is the most important step as it will determine whether or not the product made is suitable for you. My biggest concerns were humidity, scalp buildup (dry shampoo is my lifesaver during the school year), and trying to balance my hair washing with how often I work out, which ranges from 3 to 5 days a week.

During my consultation, I also made sure to select for a product that was silicone-free as I only use silicone-free products in my hair and have been doing so for my entire adult life. I also wanted a product that would protect the color treated parts of my hair and nourish my ends that get dry and start to split as my hair grows. You can also choose your scent, which is a huge plus for me. As a curly haired girl, most hair products catered towards my hair smells tropical, which is great during the summer but when cold weather runs around, I’m sick of the smell.

Once my consultation was over, I received a breakdown of the ingredients that would target my concerns. I really appreciate this part because you can see what ingredient has been added to the products and why.

Step Two: Receiving Your Custom Hair Products

Once the consultation is over, you have the option to get the shampoo and conditioner combination or the shampoo and conditioner with the hair mask. I was sent all three products for my collaboration, and I highly recommend the hair mask if you have difficult hair like I do (more on that later). Shipping was quick and easy, and the bottles arrived capped with the bottle pumps in the box for easy attachment.

I was beyond excited to see that my name and my zip code were on the label, although I blurred the zip code out of these pictures to protect my privacy. I was one of those kids who could never get those souvenir keychains or magnets with common names on them because my name is clearly not common, so you can imagine my excitement when I received my products! Oh, did I mention shipping AND returns are free?!

Step Three: Using Your Custom Hair Products

When I tried my custom hair products for the first time, I applied the shampoo hair mask to my hair and let it sit for ten minutes. Then, I shampooed my hair twice with my custom Prose shampoo and followed with the conditioner. The first time around, I found that my shampoo wasn’t as clarifying as I hoped it would be, so I let a Prose representative know and was sent a new formula within 5 days. The updated formula was way better for me, and I really appreciated how the Prose customer service reps handled it.

I noticed that the shampoo mask made my hair softer and more manageable when combing through it while wet, and the products combined cut down about thirty minutes of blow drying for me. It usually takes me just over an hour to blow dry and straighten my hair on my own, so this time saver has made a huge difference in my hair. When I wear my hair curly, I have noticed reduced frizz after using Prose Hair products.

Prose Hair Review

I absolutely love Prose Hair’s process, formulation, and customer service. I hope in the future they develop more custom hair products such as leave-in conditioner, styling cremes, etc. because it is a total game changer for girls with hard to manage hair. As someone who spends a ton of money on hair products yearly, I would rather spend my money on products developed with my lifestyle, home climate, and needs taken into consideration rather than buying a bunch of products that claim to do different things and hope that one of them works.
