Hi, world! I haven’t posted about any beauty purchases in a while, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been keeping up with all of the new releases 😉 I came across some good stuff last June that I want to share with you today, featuring some of my favorite brands – Anastasia Beverly Hills, Colourpop Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, and more.
Let me start off by pointing out two products that I’m not going to go into too much detail with – the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit (in medium) and the MAC Cosmetics Lightful C cream. The contour kit is very popular so I’m sure you’ll be able to find swatches everywhere. I like to use it mainly for special events to play up my features, and I do find the formula to be drying, so I would suggest softening it with argan oil. The Lightful C cream is a CC cream that I picked up to wear on really hot days when I have to be outside, and so far, so good. It’s obviously not going to give you as much coverage as your foundation, but I (fortunately) have really clear skin so it’s perfect for me. It’s also buildable, which is nice if you do need a little more coverage!
Lips
L to R: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Vamp, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Craft, Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in #13 Marvelous Mauve, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Whirl, MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Hover
I have definitely been buying into the ABH hype, but her products do live up to the hype! I’m obsessed with her lip glosses and was not disappointed by Vamp. I also HAD to have the liquid lipstick in Craft (she also has some amazing new colors being released next week), which is a little more pink than my Dose of Colors liquid lipstick in Berry Me and Stila liquid lipstick in Aria. I was a little disappointed with the Sephora lip stain because it looks so nice and mauve toned on people with lighter skin than mine, but it looks exactly like my MAC lipstick in Please Me 🙁 My favorite lip products at the moment are MAC’s lipstick in Whirl and lip pencil in Hover. They’re both my lips but better; they look good together and on their own. I’ve been wearing Hover with a clear lip balm over it a lot lately.
Eyes
I also had a huge ABH eye shadow moment. These are probably the best eyeshadows I own – I am obsessed with the formula and how easy they are to blend, not to mention how amazing the glitter/shimmer ones show up.
Next up are the shadows I got from Colourpop. I told myself I would slow down with the CP purchases, but then the Metamorphosis x Coffee Break With Dani eyeshadow quad came out and I caved in. The shadows are absolutely gorgeous! You can do glam, girly, and neutral looks with it, depending on how much product you pack on and which colors you use.
Kindness and Hope are actually a different finish than the previously released ColourPop eyeshadows, called Sheer Opal, and I think I prefer it over all of the other finishes (except for Matte, maybe). I also had to grab Coconut for obvious reasons.
Cheeks
At the beginning of the summer, Colourpop expanded into highlighters and bronzers. Although I haven’t ordered a bronzer yet, I did get a highlighter in Spoon. It’s very sparkly and leans on the silver side, but I like it with the right outfit and the right set of plans. The sparkles don’t really show up in the picture, but they’re definitely there. My best friend, Peter, has used Holiday on me before, and I really liked how it looked so I decided to add it to my blush collection. I think it’s a color that looks great on everyone. And last but not least, I had to get the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey that is all the rage on Instagram. It’s perfect for the summer when you want a light gold highlight.
(Gilded Honey in all its glory so you can see how beautiful it is!)
