Over the weekend, I went to Islands of Adventure as it was rented out by my school’s Student Government Association for us, which is pretty cool. What wasn’t cool was the weather, which went from sizzling hot to kind of raining to just humid all by 11 pm.
I have no idea how I survived in jeans, but it probably had to do with the fact that Ashley and I didn’t get there until almost 5 pm. And then we had to cool off with drinks from Fat Tuesday, which is the real MVP in the Florida heat, located at Citywalk. If you love carbonated drinks, find out more here about the soda water and sparkling water differences.
The first drink is a half margarita, half strawberry mix with an extra shot of tequila. The second is a half bellini, half margarita mix with a shot of Peach Schnapps. I’m not going to lie, going to Citywalk alone for Fat Tuesday was good enough for me. But we eventually had to get to the real reason why we were there – to go to IOA.
(We obviously couldn’t set off until after we took pictures against a cool wall.)
Shirt (both): Target | Jeans: American Eagle (old) | Backpack: Nordstrom/Michael Kors (old)
My outfit was a plain combination, but it worked (kind-of) for the weather. I’ll admit I was a little hot in the jeans, but I don’t have any destroyed boyfriend shorts yet – those are on my list for this spring. I didn’t want to wear short shorts since I knew it was going to rain and it usually cools off after the rain. What’s important was what I packed in my backpack. I made sure to pack my trusty ol’ The North Face rain jacket (a MUST have item if you live here), an umbrella, a handheld fan, trail mix in a ziploc bag, a bottle of water, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and my keys/wallet. I usually pack some variation of that every time I go to a theme park and it’s been working out really well for me.
After getting in, the first place we ran to was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – aka the best spot in Orlando. We eventually made our way around the park, but no pictures exist past WWoHP. There’s a reason for that. 😉 Even though I like Universal Studios more than IOA, I had a lot of fun!
Have you been to Islands of Adventure? What do you think of it?
