Flare jeans have been popping up everywhere over the past couple of years, and now there’s a Florida-friendly alternative: cropped flare jeans. I’ll admit, I haven’t worn flares since I was thirteen, but so many of my favorite bloggers have been killin’ this trend, I just HAD to try it.
I’ll admit it – I am obsessed with 70’s trends. I missed my window opportunity (aka the three months of cool weather) to get high waisted flare jeans, so cropped flares were my only other option in that department. I got the AEO Denim X Cafe Hi-Rise Kick Crop because American Eagle never steers me wrong as far as jeans go. They’re super soft and comfortable and they’re on clearance. Triple win!
I decided to go with a navy theme because I always forget that it’s a neutral and I’m trying not to neglect it anymore. I also needed an excuse to rock my new Rebecca Minkoff bag 😉 I chose a bodysuit complementary to my cardigan so that the look wouldn’t be overpowering. The sleekness of the bodysuit makes the jeans stand out a little bit more. And why not throw in a layered necklace while I’m at it?

If you’re looking to try some cropped flare jeans, make sure you choose a length proportional to your height so it doesn’t look like you’re wearing high waters. As far as shoes go, I love the idea of wearing them with either mules or really unique ankle boots. And don’t forget that the flare will look different on different body types – choose the pair you’re most comfortable with and go forth with confidence!
These cropped flares look great on you!! Rock that 70’s vibe girlfriend!! <3
