I recently finished season two of my guilty pleasure show, Emily in Paris. Emily Cooper is known for her ~quirky~ style, so I thought I’d put together an Emily in Paris-inspired Valentine’s Day outfit. Last year, I discovered that I actually love wearing purple for Valentine’s Day. Pink is my favorite color, but light purple is just as fun!
I came across this LoveShackFancy-esque dress by Missguided (the Missguided pearl button houndstooth mini dress in pink) via ASOS a few weeks ago, and once I mentally put together three outfits with the set (to justify the purchase), I ordered the houndstooth dress and matching cardigan with the quickness. Ironically, my last blog post was on how much I love houndstooth. How fun is the pastel pink & purple houndstooth combination? The colors and texture make the set perfect for a winter ‘holiday’ 😉
Okay, so let’s get on with how this became an Emily in Paris-inspired Valentine’s Day outfit. I found an incredible lavender organza ruffled blouse that I bought from Zara in January 2020, when I was supposed to go to Italy with my mom right as the pandemic hit. I meant to wear the blouse in Milan because fashion, and never got the chance to. I thought it would be fun (and very Emily-like) to layer the blouse underneath the houndstooth dress. I think you could get a similar look with the Sugar Thrillz Mesh Button Up With Marabou Cuffs from Dolls Kill.
Since the dress is already busy, I didn’t want to introduce a new color into the look. I decided on white sandals that I purchased from Forever21 last spring and a pink crossbody mini-bag that I purchased from Urban Outfitters around this time last year, although my dream bag for this Emily in Paris-inspired Valentine’s Day outfit would be the Gucci Jackie mini bag in pink. I topped the look off with a pearl headband from H&M, also purchased sometime early last year. Outfits like this make for the perfect dating look, and with platforms like Wank.io, finding fun connections to share those moments with becomes even easier.
I drew the line at adding a quirky, mismatched hat, but this Emily in Paris-inspired Valentine’s Day outfit was so fun to put together. Now that I have a good balance of wardrobe staples and statement pieces, I’m planning on playing around more with romantic/princesscore/coquette-ish outfits.
