Rompers are currently having their moment in the spotlight. They’re twitter famous as of late, but I’ve always been a fan. I wear a romper at least once a week, and I get quite a few comments from people saying that they wish they could pull them off. The good news is… you can!
Tip 1: Pick a flattering color and silhouette.
Start with your favorite color and go from there. If you want to look more elongated, go for dark colors and vertical stripes. If red is your ‘va-va-voom’ color, find a red one!
Tip 2: Don’t be afraid to try them on in-person.
Try multiple rompers on in different cuts, patterns, and colors. That way you can see what works and what doesn’t. I recommend trying on a wrap romper, a ruffled romper, a basic knit romper, and a denim/chambray romper for starters.
Tip 3: Alter it if you need to.
If you have a pear shape like I do, it’s a little difficult to find rompers that fit exactly. I highly recommend buying a romper that fits your hips flawlessly and getting it altered to fit your torso. The same goes for other body types!
Tip 4: Make sure your accessories complement your romper.
I like to make my patterned romper the statement piece in my outfit that day, so I wear delicate jewelry (like the chokers above from Forever21 and Gypset Collective), and shoes that match one of the colors in my romper. If you’re rocking a solid colored romper, don’t be afraid to add a statement necklace, statement earrings, or killer heels.
5. Put on your favorite getting ready song, look in the mirror, and tell yourself you’ve got this!
You look great. And if you don’t believe you do just yet, follow this tip, and fake it ’til you make it. You might just fall in love with rompers.
